Yamaha Takes On The Mannequin Challenge

The latest challenge taking over social media, participants freezing in place as if they were a mannequin, rides into our motorcycle world with a new video from Yamaha.

An apparent successor to the Ice Bucket Challenge, which involved recording the dumping of a bucket filled with ice and water on someone's head, the Mannequin Challenge is a viral Internet video trend where people remain frozen in action, like mannequins, while a video is recorded.

Where the Ice Bucket Challenge was used to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known in the US as Lou Gehrig's Disease, the Mannequin Challenge is simply out of fun.

Yamaha reported a Mannequin Challenge was issued to the US division, although who threw it down wasn’t made clear. Regardless, as can be seen in the two minute video below, over 55 Motorsport employees at the Yamaha Motor Corporation's headquarters delivered a ‘winning (and entertaining) team mannequin performance’ according to the Japanese manufacturer.

According to Yamaha, it only took 45 minutes to record the footage used and included a variety of corporate areas in a walkthrough fashion.
