Yamaha feels for serious middleweight performance and style in a confidence-inspiring ride, riders should consider the V Star 950 Tourer.

V Star 950 Tourer is considered a benchmark in the cruiser touring class with the motorcycle manufacturer appealing to seasoned riders as well as those looking for a friendly entry-level cruiser with this model. The air-cooled V-twin promises plenty of distinctive, big-cruiser character and pulsing torque feel. Seat height is an extra-low 26.6 inches. The full-sized chassis has a long, low look and provides spacious comfort. Handling is said to be sporty and responsive, great for curvy back roads and commuting around town as well as open-highway cruising.

The fuel-injected 942cc 60° V-twin engine is designed to be both simple and sophisticated. Inside riders will find the reason for the surprisingly spirited performance: four-valve cylinder heads, ceramic-composite-lined cylinders, forged aluminum pistons, and fuel injection. The meticulously tuned 2-into-1 exhaust system has a throaty exhaust note, and also 3-way catalyst technology to reduce air pollution.

The V Star 950 Tourer also benefits from the addition of an easily removable windshield and backrest. Available in Raven for 2016 with a suggested retail price of $9,790, the V Star 950 Tourer will be available in dealerships beginning in November.

The venerable, shaft-drive V Star Custom, with its old-school hot-rod styling, lightweight 40-cubic-inch V-twin engine, and easy handling, returns for 2016 in Electric White with an MSRP of $6,990.

The V Star Custom is the lightest of the full-size Stars, which means great handling and performance are along for the ride, too. Its also one of the few motorcycles in the 2016 models still celebrating chrome. Dual exhausts, custom-looking clear turn signals and lots of chrome, the V Star Custom does offer tremendous cruiser bang for the buck as well as a choice for bikers not in lust with the new design trends of dark and classic.

The V Star Custom will arrive in dealerships in October.

Completing the V Star lineup for 2016 is the V Star 250, a compact custom cruiser with a 27-inch seat height and a V-twin engine that offers plenty of torque, smooth power delivery, and incredible fuel economy.

The V Star 250 is the only V-twin in its class and it features dual exhausts as well as plenty of quality chrome.

Offered in Electric White for 2016, the V Star 250 has a suggested retail price of $4,390 and will be available in dealerships beginning in October. Not only does this model present itself as a great starter motorcycle, it could be considered as an option for urban riders. The biggest argument for this?

An estimated 78 mpg means almost 200 miles between fill-ups.
